This great story began on November 30, 1959, in the city of Farroupilha, Rio Grande do Sul, when two cousins, Adelino Raymundo Colombo and Dionysio Balthasar Maggioni, founded the Lojas Colombo store chain. Just a year later, in 1960, the business expanded with the inauguration of the state's first television network. TV set sales were a determining factor in the company’s initial growth, as it found a way to fulfill the dreams of that era’s consumers by creating a consortium to sell them. In 1965, the store's first branch was inaugurated in the city of Caxias do Sul.
By 1992, Colombo would have 167 stores and 16 franchises in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. During this same period, the Lojas Colombo brand was inaugurated. Its first units were installed across the state of São Paulo in 1999, signaling the start of the chain’s nationalization. 2003 was another historic year, when the Colombo flag arrived in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
In 2012, through a revision of its positioning, Colombo decided to invest further to strengthen itself in Southern Brazilian states. With well focused actions and aiming to potentialize business, the company currently has 262 stores, 2 distribution centers and over 5,500 employees in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.

Colombo Motors is a Colombo Group company and relies on the recognized quality of the Lojas Colombo brand, a trusted presence in Brazilian retail for over 50 years.
Colombo Motors began operations in Rio Grande do Sul on May 28, 2009, selling Shineray brand motorcycles through the Colombo store chain.
After initiating operations in the Rio Grande do Sul market, Colombo Motors expanded its managerial capacity by establishing partnerships with Technical Assistance networks and opening its own stores in the cities of Uruguaiana, Santa Maria, Passo Fundo, Farroupilha, Porto Alegre and Rio Grande, offering specialized services to customers.
The company’s biggest move forward took place after a partnership signed with the Colombo Purchasing Consortium (FAC) in 2010, when customers came to rely on the convenience of consortium purchasing and advance delivery of motorcycles by the Shineray factory in Brazil. The Purchasing Consortium partnership has led Colombo Motors to figure among Brazil’s main motorcycle dealerships.
In 2010, Colombo Motors expanded its operating market by starting sales from the Colombo chain in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná.
In April of 2010, its first stores opened in the Santa Catarina city of Itajaí, and also in São José dos Pinhais, in Paraná.
In 2012, Colombo Motors expanded its market once again by operating out of Colombo chain stores in the state of São Paulo.
Colombo Motors' main office is located in the city of Farroupilha (RS), which is where its Motorcycle Distribution and Factory Technical Assistance Centers are located, in addition to customer service call centers.
The company believes in gradual, linear growth of the motorcycle market in Brazil and is working very hard to provide better service to its customers with each new day.
Today, Colombo Motors is present in Colombo chain stores in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná, in addition to having its own and specialized stores in eight cities.
Farroupilha Administradora Consórcios (FAC) was founded on August 18, 1987 and stands out on the market by its clear and ethical way of operating, earning customer loyalty to the brand.
FAC is a Colombo Group company and relies on the recognized quality of the Lojas Colombo brand, a trusted presence in Brazilian retail for over 50 years, operating in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná.
Since its establishment, FAC has gradually expanded its managerial capacity, automating administrative and financial processes, making it possible to view results from anywhere.
In 2003, it was named the most remembered brand by Amanhã magazine in its Top of Mind study, and this feat was repeated consecutively in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
It earned attention from CONAC for two straight years - 2003 and 2004 - with its National Success case study among Administrators, bringing real time information to any of its points of sale. This process lent greater agility to the sale of consortium plans and benefits to customers, who can now leave the store with all information pertinent to their purchase in hand, such as: group, share, date of assemblies and payment dates.
In March of 2004, it was elected as Brazil’s best administrator of electronics purchasing consortiums. That same year, the Online Assembly was created, a modern lottery drawing system with real-time transmission via internet. In this way, consortium members can watch the Assembly wherever they are.
It has a customer service channel that can be accessed by phone at +55 (54) 3268-8328, or at any Colombo store.
Crediare was founded as a full subsidiary of Lojas Colombo S.A. in 2003, offering customers integrated product financing solutions and bringing new ways of capturing funds to the Company.
During the next two years, based on the need to expand the network, the Company went to the market in search of a partner. In May of 2007, Bradesco, one of Brazil’s largest private banks, took 50% control of Crediare, the other 50% remaining with Lojas Colombo. This partnership provided Crediare with the capacity to carry out financing of approximately R$ 1 billion and the company began to offer different lines of credit, capitalization and insurance.
All of this evolution and work earned Crediare national attention. On June 25, 2007, by indication from Austin Rating, Gazeta Mercantil’s Balanço Financeiro business magazine named Crediare the “Best Financing Company of 2006 in Operational Results,” and in November of 2007, Lojas Colombo received 4 Marketing Top of Mind awards from ADVB/RS, among them the “Outstanding Financial,” as a result of the work done by Crediare.
In 2008, a hybrid credit card was released under the Colombo/VISA network, being the only financing company in Brazil at the time authorized to issue VISA network cards.
Currently, with expansion in mind and in search of new markets, Crediare is introducing its International Card, which offers airline mileage awards, in addition to reaching the C-income class. To this end, the company is reorganizing itself, both systemically and by organizing a team specialized in serving this new market.
