This great reality began in November, 30th, 1959, in the small city of Farroupilha/RS, when the cousins Adelino Raymundo Colombo e Dionysio Balthasar Maggioni founded the first Lojas Colombo. Only one year later, in 1960, with the inauguration of the first broadcasting company in the Rio Grande do Sul Federal State, the business expanded. The television sets sales was an important issue to the company's initial growth, that wisely knew how to reach the customers dreams at that time creating a consortium to commercialize these products. In 1965 Colombo's first branch is inaugurated in the nearby city of Caxias do Sul.
Colombo arrives to 1992 with 167 stores and 16 franchises in the Federal States of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. That's when the Lojas Colombo brand was created. In 1999, with the installation of the first units in São Paulo Federal State countryside, Lojas Colombo starts its nationalization process that in 2003 was accomplished raising its flag in Minas Gerais Federal State. Nowadays, the company has 312 stores, 31 Sales Points and 3 distribution centers and more than 6,000 employees in the Federal States of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

Colombo Consortium, also known as Farroupilha Consortium Administration - FAC, operates since 1987 with electrical home appliances, motorcycles, automobiles and real estate segment. Counting with 115 employees, it has been in all the cities wherein Colombo owns stores and in other 60 City Lar stores, distributed in the Federal States of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Acre, Mato Grosso do Sul, Amazonas and Rondônia.
